What I Learned From Being Divorced.. Twice.

JLO said love don't cost a thing but I assure you divorce absolutely does.

I almost cannot believe I can write that title without much of a body reaction at this point. The shame that comes with divorce even once is pretty repressive. But telling people you did that whole patriarchal project AGAIN, by choice, and it didn’t hold, makes the failure meter feel as though it’s swinging hard in one direction. I’m getting better at owning my experience as my own. I think not judging myself has been the real first step in not holding onto others opinions and judgements about my relationship status.
